The Institute for Sustainability Research was established based on the purpose of studying the environmental sustainability policies, especially for a study of energy strategy shift and regional regeneration. This institute has been engaged in the following studies and projects.

  1. Theoretical study and case studies for achieving environmental sustainability
  2. Comprehensive studies regarding regional regeneration based on an energy strategy shift
  3. A study of energy issues and policies based on creation of environmental archives and editing and publishing of a general nuclear chronology
  4. Fusion of research and education (cultivation of young researchers)
  5. Holding of symposiums, lectures, seminars, workshops, etc.
  6. Promotion of collaborative research projects with institutes outside of Hosei University
  7. Publishing of academic publications based on research achievements
  8. Projects necessary for achieving other purposes
